Create your loop like you would a strap for a belt. Find the center of your pouch and sew a scant quarter.

Place zipper face down and sew into pace at each end

Cut off excess zipper add binding

Cut all four parts of the zipper so the material at the end of the zipper is the same length and it tapers out to the inside corner

You will also need heavy piece stabilizer if you are making this from cotton . You will bond this to the lining section of the pouch.

What you need:

1 piece of cotton fabric for the external

1 piece of cotton fabric for the internal

1 piece of heavy weight woven stabilizer

1 No. 5 zipper 11″ inches long

2 pieces of binding 1 1/2 ” x 11″ that matches your internal fabric.

2 pieces of binding 1 1/2 ” x 4″ that matches your internal fabric.

Before we start please bear in mind that each cricut can be different, what works for my machine may not work for yours. Always run a test before making any projects

Visit my Cricut home page and cut out all your parts. https://design.cricut.com/landing/profile/61885f9fce8cbd26112567e4 The sections in pink are external sections and the pieces in green are all internal sections.

You will need :

Two pieces for the external

Two pieces for internal

Pellon Decor Bond 809 Iron on Stabilizer

1.5 x 20″ for the binding

Two 1.5″ x 91/4″ one for external and one for internal

10″ long zipper 5# zipper which is more or less 1 1/4″.

Press the Decor Bond to the back of both external circles and one of the 2″ x 8″ cut all section out with your cricut. I used setting Fabric Cotton, Bonded. Clicked the more pressure and changed the blade from fin point to rotary cutter. Double check that the circle is where you want it to cut on the mat with the fabric. I did two passes with my cricut cut.

Quilt one external section and one internal section together wrong sides together, do the same for the other two circles. I just did straight lines.

Attach the handle on one of the external sections. Find the center of you pouch I folded in 1 in on each end to hide any raw edges.

Now quilt the 1.5″ x 8″ wrong sides together fold in half and find the center, find a center point at the raw edge of one of your circles. Match the marks together and with the external fabrics facing each other stitch into place about an inch on both side of the mark. It may be easiser at this point to wonder clip the fabric into place and ease it in around the curve. If you did clip everything into place un clip. Take your zipper and sew one end to the fabric section then do the same with the other. I applied a binding piece on that zipper part. The turned over the zipper to the right side and top stitched the zipper into place.

Turn the whole pouch inside out. grip all the way around with pins or grips and stitch into place.

do the same with the other side of the circle. Before you do make sure your zipper is OPEN!

I bind the inside and that is completely up to you just hate looking at raw seams.

You finished!

Using your cricut maker for sewing : Sewing a Boxy small but wide pencil case

by Faodail Creation Sewing and Quilting – Sewing and Quilting Tutorials

Before we start please bear in mind that each cricut can be different, what works for my machine may not work for yours. Always run a test before making any projects

Visit my Cricut home page https://design.cricut.com/landing/profile/61885f9fce8cbd26112567e4 and cut out all your parts. The sections in pink are external sections and the pieces in purple are all internal sections.

You will need:

Fabric Cotton for one external section, one internal section and binding

Tab for bottom of zipper 5″ x 4″

If you are using the tag, only use on piece of stabilizer and use light weight low quality for the binding to reduce bulk.

Medium weight fusible stabilizer

Zipper at least 12 inchs long

Start by fusing the Medium weight fusible stabilizer, this stabilizer is like thick cotton with a fusible glue on one side. It isn’t wooly so you can cut it fused to the back of your cotton. I’m going to fuse both sides. The one piece you DON’T fuse is the binding strip. Always Click on the edit screen to see where the cricut is going to cut so you can line up correctly.

Cut all the sections with your cricut. I cut all pieces face up, and secure them a little more with painters tape. Setting Cotton, Bonded. Don’t mirror. Go to edit tools and change to the rotary blade. Pressure setting more. I get my cricut to cut three times.

Pin both sections wrong sides together, quilt stitch them together so they at attached to each other.

Pull the zipper pull off, so you are working with one side of the zip at a time. Place on side of the zipper with teeth facing down and the tape towards the seam, pin and sew in place on the external piece of fabric. Making sure there is overhang of zipper on both sides, DO NOT CUT AWAY YET. Do the same on the other side attaching the zipper into place.

Flip the zipper tape over so the top of the teeth are at the top of your external piece and top stitch down do the same with the other side.

Place the pull back onto the zipper, here is another video that can help you with that. https://youtu.be/Ylmb-ZonYuc

Now you can cut off the zipper excess on both sides

make sure the zip is half way down and open the other in of the pouch. DO NOT PULL ZIPPER OFF COMPLETELY. Turn wrong sides out. sew both sides of the rectangle pieces into place and attach the bias strips hiding raw edges.

This part gets a bit bulky so go slow and stitch down the open boxed corners at the seam. I cut off part of the bulk before adding the binding to hide the seam. The binding is a little bit finicky but its worth it in the end.

Turn the pouch right sides out and you’re done!

Using your cricut maker for sewing : Sewing a Coaster

by Faodail Creation Sewing and Quilting – Sewing and Quilting Tutorials

Before we start please bear in mind that each cricut can be different, what works for my machine may not work for yours. Always run a test before making any projects

Visit my Cricut home page https://design.cricut.com/landing/profile/61885f9fce8cbd26112567e4 and cut out all your parts.

The two squares are for cutting your fabric sections and the daisy will be cut using heat transfer vinyl. Its best to use a cricuit press the reason I say this is because a regular iron has holes and the cricut press doesn’t. Also the cricut press has a timer on it and can be set at a certain heat.

The materials you will need are two pieces of fabric at least 7″ x 7″ these will be cut down to a 6″ square. You will need a white, yellow and black HTV Vinyl. These are quite small so you should be able to get some of your little scraps used up with this project. You will need some quilters batting 6 x 6.

Load your machine up with fabric color of your choice for the main body for the coaster. Remember to change the setting to fabric.

Now load the vinyl, there will be white for the petals, black for the outline and yellow for the inside of the flower. Cut all pieces with the mirror set to on and the cut setting set to iron on vinyl.

Weed all your vinyl pieces.

Because this is a layered vinyl design you will want to cut the press time in half. I’ll be setting the easy press to 315 degrees F for 15 secs to one of the fabric sections. Starting with the white section first. Removing the plastic layer once it’s cooled down.

trim down the yellow section slightly and you will want to line up the yellow piece using the next black part. I placed the yellow section gently into the black section to line it up then removed it and pressed for 15 seconds. I used a Handkerchief as to not over heat the white section we just pressed.

The final piece can then be pressed on I did this for 25 seconds helping all the layers to become attached.

Now lets sewing this into a coaster.

Take the daisy piece, then the other piece that has no vinyl attached and lay them face down against each other, and place the quilting batting on top.

before we sew all the way around the daisy coaster, mark a 2 inch opening at the bottom for turning right side out.

Sew all the way around apart from that opening leave that open.

Once sewed down open right sides out using the opening.

then top stitch all the way around closing up that opening.

You will also need batting if you are making this from cotton or some sort of heavy to medium stabilizer. The stabilizer you can’t cut using your cricut but you will have to hand cut your batting if you are using that method.

for my tutorial I’m going to cut a medium weight canvas that i have dyed and screen printed. If you can’t afford to pink fabric mat you can use strong grip transfer tape as a little hack. Place the transfer tape sticky side up so you keep your mat nice and clean. You will need to insert your rotary cutter into your cricut machine and cut.

If Im cutting canvas I choose the canvas setting and select more. The cricuit cuts no problem but if you do want to send it through again just press the cricuit button without unloading the mat.

Cut the other sections of fabric, for the next part i’ll be using regular cotton so i’ll select the fabric Medium Fabrics (like cotton) button. Let the cricuit cut.

You should have :

2 external sections 11″ wide x 6″ tall

2 Internal sections 11″ wide x 6″ tall

4 tabs 1″ x 2

a zipper at least 10 ” long we will be using tabs at each end

The first thing we are going to do is sort out the zipper. Cut the length to 8″, pull the zipper back DO NOT CUT OFF THE PULL.

Lets sew on the the tabs, you will sandwich each tab right sides together with the zipper in the middle and clip in place with a wonder clip.

Sew into place with a quarter of an inch stitch. Once stitched you will fold back and top stitch in place. Do the same thing with both sides of the rounded bottom pouch.

Cut your tabs down 1/2″ on both sides. Make sure they are even on both sides.

Now lets make the boxed out bottom pencil case. One external section is face up, zipper with pull face down and one external piece face down. Grip or pin take over to your sewing machine and sew into place.

Fold everything back and top stitch. Do the same thing as before but now the zip is attached. Place external fabric with zip attached right side up, place the second external fabric right sides together. Grip or pin into place. flip everything over. You are now looking at the external fabric with the zipper pull facing away from you. Place you internal piece on top right sides facing. Grip into place and sew.

Now join together your external pieces and your internal pieces. IMPORTANT, PULL BACK THE ZIPPER!!

Mark a 2 1/2″ lines on the internal part of the boxed out bottom pencil case. The will be for pulling right sides out later.

Sew around the pouch apart from the squares and the two lines for the opening.

You’re now left with the boxed out corners. Join the seams together and sew, all four.

Pull the pouch through the opening. Check that everything is good and all the layers are sewn. Now you can sew the opening closed on the external section of the pouch.

Go back to the sewing machine and sew all around the rounded bottom pouch apart from where we marked.

If you have excess fabric give it a trim without cutting through the threads. Pull the pouch through the opening. Check that everything is good and all the layers are sewn. Now you can sew the opening closed on the external section of the pouch.
