What you’ll need to create this:
Creative Grids 18 Degree Dresden Plate Quilt Ruler (see shopping list below)
1 Fat quarter of Light Green
1 Fat Quarter of Teal
16 ” x 16″ Medium Green
16″ x 16″ Canvas
16″ x 16″ medium weight fusible stablizer
Zipper larger than 16″
First of all make the dresdens using the template I used the size 4 with the circle around you can make this any size you want.

I alternated my colors. 11 teal and 11 light green for the Dresden segments.

fold over a segment in half and stich the bottom longer side a 1/4 inch and chain piece each dresden segment.
once they are sewn in place

Flip them right sides out I gently turn the points with a point turner or chopstick.

I gently pressed each of the tips of my dresden segments down with an iron. You want to becarfeul not to stretch them out.
Placing the dresden segments right sides together sew quarter of an inch alternating the colors all the way around.

When you come to the last two place them right sides together and sew both into place.

Use the plastic circle to trace around your fabric.

The template has you create another cardboard template yourself that is the inside circle you see marked here with the dashed lines. You will now sew the outside edge by hand and gather the fabric around the cardboard circle. Pull tight creating the inside circle for the dresden. Once stitched all the way around I press with an iron before removing from the template.
Attach the inner circle by hand or by machine. I used my machine, stitching three stitches then lifting presser foot up rotating with the curve and repeating around.

Find the centre of your dresden plate and the center of your base by folding them in half and creating a crease. If your base layer is too thin you may need to stablize it with a medium weight fusible stablizer.

You can hand stitch or use your sewing machine once again to stitch the dresden plate into place. I once again used the sewing machine.
Now create a basic cushion cover, fold your 16″ x 16″ canvas in half and cut. Sew in the zipper in the middle.

With your cushion facing up and your side piece facing down so they are both facing each other sew all the way around. MAKE SURE TO OPEN YOUR ZIPPER SIGHTLY so you can turn right sides out. This is an IMPORTANT step.
Once complete, turn right sides out and you have a nice dresden plate cushion cover. Watch the video below for some extra tips and tricks.
