Single Irish Chain Block

A quilt block made of two fabrics, one light and one dark, arranged in a checkerboard pattern that creates a diagonal chain effect when joined with other blocks.

Finished block size 6″

Cutting Instructions

A         Cut eight 1 ½ x 1 ½

B        Cut Two 4 ½ x 4 ½

C        Cut Two 2 ½ x 1 ½

D       Cut One 2 ½ x 2 ½

E        Cut Two 4 ¼  x 1 ½

How to piece

Starting from the center sew a D with C and C on both left and right, which will be unit one

Sew a C with A and A, unit two and three.

Now attach units two and three to the top and bottom of unit one

Now sew two B sections to the side of the A,C,A Unit on the left and right

Sew E and two A on either side

Sew these units to the top and bottom of A C A Pieces
